Sue Ellen Hassouna (LLM ‘13) Honored for Fighting Corruption
Sue Ellen Hassouna (LLM ’13), who earned her Master of Laws in international and comparative law from AUC and is president of the Sue Ellen Foundation for Legal Development, was honored by the Egyptian government for her efforts in implementing the National Anti-Corruption Strategy in state entities.

The Open Mind Comes to Cairo
Alexander Heffner, host of The Open Mind on PBS — the longest running broadcast in American public television — is joining AUC for a discussion on the role of the media in writing history. On December 7, viewers can tune in, ask questions and join in on the conversation. Rawan Lasheen Won the Egyptian Parliament Elections 2020
The School of Global Affairs and Public Policy is proud to announce that, Rawan Lasheen, 27, has been nominated and won the Egyptian Parliament Elections 2020 round under the youth category. Lasheen is an AUC Graduate '15 Mass Communication: Communication and Media Arts with a minor in Economics and MA' 17 from Kamal Adham Center for TV and Digital Journalism with Honors. Working as an Economic and Business news anchor and in-house reporter at AlGhad News Channel based in Cairo.

Aya Abbas, Professional Paralympic Swimming Champ, Finds Her Passion at AUC
“Doctors told my mom I was going to die. They told her not to invest too much in me as I am dying anyway,” said Aya Abbas, the first and youngest paralympic swimmer in the Middle East and Africa to win world paraswimming championship medals as well as Egypt's Republican Medal for Athletes.

Tahrir Cultural Center Kicks Off El Gouna in Tahrir
El Gouna in Tahrir is a long-awaited collaboration between AUC's Tahrir Cultural Center and El Gouna Film Festival. This is a series of 5 films selected from previous editions of the film festival. They include the winner of last year's festival, the Sudanese film You Will Die At Twenty, which will open the series on October 7 at 7pm. Tickets for each film are EGP 50. 23-Year-Old Alumna One of the Youngest Managers at Egypt's Ministry of State for Information
Her young age didn't stop her from dreaming big and achieving her goals. Sarah Seif '18, journalism and mass communication graduate, has been appointed as a crisis communications and media monitoring manager at Egypt's Ministry of Information. At age 23, she is one of the youngest managers at the ministry, leading a team of seven people.
