Civic Engagement

The School of Global Affairs and Public Policy (GAPP) is actively promoting civic engagement through research initiatives, policy briefs, and public lectures, fostering a culture of active participation and informed dialogue. In addition, GAPP strive to nurture a sense of civic responsibility and aims to empower its community to become engaged citizens actively contributing to their communities and the world at large.

Tahrir Dialogue Series

The School of Global Affairs and Public Policy (GAPP) at The American University in Cairo (AUC) initiated the Tahrir Dialogue Series after the extraordinary events of January 25, 2011, to contribute actively to Egypt's development with the Building Better Egypt Initiative's objective to create awareness and promote broad debate among the Egyptian community; featuring leading national and international policymakers and thought leaders, the Tahrir Dialogue Series is designed to promote an open culture of debate on emerging and cutting-edge themes of importance to Egypt and the region.

Joint Initiative with the European Union Delegation to Egypt on EHUB

The Center for Migration and Refugee Studies (CMRS) and the European Union Delegation to Egypt, as partners of the Government of Egypt in the sector, are bringing together in a joint initiative, the Egyptian Migration Hub (EHUB), all stakeholders in the country to share their experiences, to build confidence, and to form a common baseline of understanding of the context and the policy options available.

The Kamal Adham Center for Television and Digital Journalism in partnership with Facebook Journalism Project, collaborate to offer a comprehensive one-year program to support Egyptian media organizations and individuals in addressing some of the pressing issues and challenges facing the industry during and after the coronavirus pandemic.

UNESCO Project

In collaboration with the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), the World Health Organization (WHO), and the United Nations Information Center in Cairo (UNIC), the Kamal Adham Center for Television and Digital Journalism in the School of Global Affairs and Public Policy, held a series of webinars to address media and journalism challenges of misinformation, trust, and rumors in times of COVID19.
