About Us

The Middle East Studies Center (MESC) is part of the School of Global Affairs and Public Policy at The American University in Cairo.

MESC supports research, teaching, and outreach across a range of disciplines. MESC administers the BADiploma and MA program in Middle East Studies, whose alumni span academia, the private sector, NGOs and government service. Through a variety of curricular and extracurricular activities, we aim to build on our international reputation and location as a natural hub for Middle Eastern studies.

AUC has been granting Bachelor of Arts in Middle East studies since 1974 and the Master of Arts since 1980 and you will find that many leading professors have taught at AUC sometime in the course of their careers. MESC supports research, teaching, and outreach across a range of disciplines.
