Shahira S. Fahmy to Continue her Service as an Editorial Board Member for Media, War and Conflict SAGE Journal

Professor Shahira Fahmy has served on the board since the journal’s inception in 2008 and was selected to edit a special issue of the journal in 2010 on  Images of Conflict. Media, War and Conflict is a major international, peer-reviewed journal that maps the shifting arena of war, conflict and terrorism in an intensively and extensively mediated age. 

Currently, Fahmy serves on the publications committee of The Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication (AEJMC) in the United States. The committee is responsible for the oversight of the three association-wide journals: Journalism and Mass Communication Quarterly, Journalism and Mass Communication Educator and Journalism and Communication Monographs.

Fahmy is the associate editor of the flagship Journal of Communication (JOC) and sits on edi­torial boards of multiple Q1 journals in the communication discipline, including Journalism and Mass Communication Quarterly, Mass Communication and Society, as well as other top communication journals including and Visual Communication Quarterly.

Fahmy has served as evaluator of manuscripts for more than 40 different refereed journals and research/policy institutes, including the Institute for Communitarian Policy Studies at George Washington University, Communication Yearbook, Oxford Bibliographies / Communication, Journal of Broadcasting and Electronic Media (JOBEM), New Media and Society, International Communication Gazette, International Journal for Public Opinion Research (IJPOR), Journal of Computer-Mediated Communication, Journal of Conflict Resolution, Journalism: Theory, Practice and Criticism, Asian Journal of Communication and The International Journal of Press/Politics. Fahmy also evaluated manuscripts for book proposals and awards such as the AEJMC Tankard Book Award, Sage, Routledge: Taylor and Francis Group in the US and the UK, Palgrave Macmillan, and Oxford University Press, among others.
