Public Policy Making and Evaluation for Sustainable Development: Expert Forum
The Public Policy Making and Evaluation for Sustainable Development: Expert Forum was held on February 24 - 25, 2025, organized by AUC's School of Global Affairs and Public Policy, Executive Education, in collaboration with the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA).
The event witnessed the participation of a number of key figures in the field of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in the Arab region, both virtually and in person, including former and current ministers of social solidarity, senior state officials and parliamentarians. Additionally, the forum brought together prominent experts and stakeholders from across the Arab region to address key challenges impacting SDGs, as highlighted in ESCWA’s 2024 Arab Sustainable Development Report.
The discussions focused on enhancing SDG follow-up and review mechanisms, identifying evaluation gaps and strategizing effective solutions to address public policy barriers. Throughout the event, participants collaborated to map crucial performance gaps and evaluate existing capacities while formulating training and development programs that will guide the region toward effective implementation of SDGs through 2030.
This dynamic forum expanded the network of regional expertise and will continue to drive sustainable development through strengthened public policy frameworks and cross-sectoral partnerships.
