The Public Policy and Administration Department organized the eleventh meeting of the the Association for Middle Eastern Public Policy and Administration
The Public Policy and Administration Department (PPAD) organized the eleventh meeting of the Association for Middle Eastern Public Policy and Administration (AMEPPA) on December 9-10, 2022. Founded in 2011 and institutionalized at PPAD in 2017, AMEPPA is dedicated to advancing good governance and ethical institutions in the Middle East with a robust international network of more than 600 professionals and academics.
The conference was a meeting of great minds and a venue for exchanging ideas about various public policy and administration topics. Alasdair Roberts, professor at the School of Public Policy at the University of Massachusetts Amherst and a fellow of the National Academy of Public Administration, gave the keynote speech. More than 60 participants presented papers at the conference. Presenters from India, the United Arab Emirates, Morocco, Sudan, and Egypt discussed their research at the conference. From Egypt, AMEPPA had participants from the American University in Cairo, Cairo University, Ain Shams University, Port Said University, and Mansoura University, among others. Issues discussed included climate change, urbanization, sustainable development goals, governance and civic participation, to name but a few.
