EHUB Pre-Validation Workshop Explores Livelihood Opportunities for Migrants in Egypt
Key findings and policy recommendations discussed in a collaborative workshop at AUC Tahrir Square campus.
The Egyptian Migration Hub (EHUB) successfully held its Pre-Validation Workshop on June 1, 2025, at the AUC Tahrir Square campus, bringing together key stakeholders from academia, government and civil society. The workshop focused on livelihood opportunities available to migrants, refugees and asylum-seekers in Egypt, marking an important step in validating findings from a recent study conducted under the framework of the EHUB project.
Key sessions included an overview of the study's methodology and key findings, presented by Sara Sadek, Nada Hegazy, Shaimaa Gheith and Mahmoud Mansour from the Center for Migration and Refugee Studies (CMRS) at AUC. These presentations highlighted the legislative framework, migration sectors with high demand and the skills of migrant communities in Egypt.
The event also featured a roundtable discussion on policy and programmatic recommendations, moderated by Sara Sadek and Marwa Mostafa of the International Organization for Migration (IOM) Egypt, engaging participants in an open dialogue to refine the study’s conclusions.
The workshop provided a platform for refining recommendations to better inform migration policies and programmatic interventions aimed at improving migrant livelihoods in Egypt.
