CMRS Hosts the Regional Confrence “Collaborative Dialogue: Enhancing Migration Data through Shared Knowledge”

CMRS and IOM regional and country offices in MENA and Egypt jointly hosted a regional conference “Collaborative Dialogue: Enhancing Migration Data through Shared Knowledge.”

The conference falls under the framework of IOM-CMRS collaboration the Egyptian Migration Hub (EHUB) serving as a strategic coordination platform for stakeholder engagement across Egypt and the region and as a component of the EU-funded project ‘Strengthening Migration Data and Statistics Ecosystem in Egypt’

The conference started with opening remarks by:

  • Ibrahim Awad, professor of research and CMRS director 

  • Karim Abul-Enien, Minister Plenipotentiary, Head of Migration, Refugees and Anti-trafficking Affairs, MFA Egypt

  • Carlos Oliver-Cruz, Chief of Mission, IOM Egypt

  • Alaa Dridi, Research Officer, IOM MENA RO 

Over the course of three days, the conference brought together over 30 academics including statisticians and researchers and representatives of the following regional and national entities concerned with migration data:  Conference recap.

  • IOM Egypt 

Sessions covered addressing common challenges and exploring potential solutions to strengthen collaborative networks and regional cooperation on migration. Interactive sessions and exchanges helped produce practical recommendations and establish foundations for future cooperation among the involved countries and institutions.
