Capacity Building Training on Financial Mechanisms for International Environmental Conventions
Sponsored by Friedrich Ebert Stiftung (FES) and implemented by GAPP Executive Education, this training program was launched on September 26, 2024, with an online session to enhance the capacity of Egyptian civil society and governmental stakeholders in financial mechanisms related to international environmental conventions.
The online sessions last until October 2, 2024 and focus on introducing participants to financial mechanisms for Multilateral Environmental Agreements (MEAs), exploring the shortcomings of current frameworks, and examining the relationship between trade, subsidies, and MEAs.
The program will conclude with a face-to-face workshop at AUC from October 15 to October 17, 2024 with a focus on analyzing Egypt's financial needs and developing key recommendations for establishing an effective financial mechanism for the Global Plastic Pollution Treaty. Overall, this training is crucial for empowering participants to engage in international environmental negotiations and support Egypt's environmental sustainability goals.
