AUCTV and Adham Center Graduates Win Awards at BEA Festival of Media Arts 2025
AUC TV has earned a prestigious third place in the Television National Signature Station Awards at the Broadcast Education Association's (BEA) Festival of Media Arts 2025. This achievement highlights the station’s continued excellence in student-run, faculty-advised media production.
Each year, the "Dr. Marjorie Yambor Signature Station Competition" recognizes the top university radio and television stations, assessing them on various criteria such as philosophical engagement, community involvement, programming arrangement, branding/logo development, student management, volunteer recruitment and broadcast equipment. The competition saw a record number of entries this year, showcasing exceptional portfolios reflecting a passion for college media.
AUC TV's success is a testament to the dedication and talent of its faculty and staff. Special recognition is given to:
- AUCTV Faculty Advisor: Hussein Amin
- AUCTV Operational Manager: Rania Aboulwafa
- AUCTV Production Staff: Mohamed Ashraf Kamal, Mohamed Magdy and Hassan Labib
In addition to AUC TV's accomplishment, two graduate students from the Kamal Adham Center Master of Arts in Television and Digital Journalism program received accolades at the BEA Festival.
- Amira Sayed Ahmed won the "Award of Excellence" in the Graduate Documentary Competition for her micro-documentary, "Ladies of the Nile".
- Sara Abdellatif Huweedi won second place in the Graduate News Competition for her television feature, "Descendants of Olive Trees."
Both projects were produced in the TVDJ 5246 TV Digital Journalism Capstone course under the supervision of Hussein Amin, center director and capstone professor. The course teaching assistants, Gehad Essam and Hagar Adss, provided invaluable support to the students throughout their projects.
This year’s BEA Festival of Media Arts received 2,285 entries, marking a 21% increase from the previous year, reflecting the growing talent of student media.
