United Nations Honors Professor Rasha Abdulla at the Internet Governance Forum
Rasha Abdulla, professor in the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication, was honored by the United Nations at the recent Internet Governance Forum (IGF) in Paris. Abdulla has been a member of the IGF Multistakeholder Advisory Group (MAG) for three years; The MAG is a group of Internet experts appointed by the UN Secretary General to organize the IGF, the biggest annual meeting of Internet-related issues worldwide. Abdulla was honored by United Nations Under-Secretary-General for the Department of Economic and Social Affairs for her efforts on the MAG, where she led the Working Group on IGF Workshop Evaluation and revamped the process of workshop evaluation and selection, a change which was very warmly appreciated by the IGF community. During the IGF, Abdulla also spoke on the Main Session on Media and Content, addressing issues related to Internet regulation, fake news, and hate speech.
