Naila Hamdy Speaks at United Nations Alliance of Civilizations Global Forum

Naila Hamdy, associate professor of journalism, was invited to speak at the 8th United Nations Alliance of Civilizations Global Forum during a session addressing “Digital Diplomacy: Online Citizen Engagement and Social Media Platforms as Mechanisms for Prevention and Countering Online Hate Speech”. The conference was held at the UN headquarters on November 19 - 20, 2018. Her contributions consisted of strategies to combat hate speech online based on her personal journey in creating a glossary for use by journalists and engaging them in creating counter-narratives and the use of media literacy to preventing and neutralizing hate speech.
