Graduation of the First Cohort of the Takeda Training Program
The School of Global Affairs and Public Policy Executive Education at The American University in Cairo celebrated the graduation of the first cohort of the Takeda Training Program: An Introduction to Health Informatics and Its Applications in the Field of Health Policymaking. The program, sponsored by the multinational pharmaceutical organization Takeda, featured a set of customized capacity-building workshops aimed at pharmacists and physicians from the Specialized Medical Councils at the Egyptian Ministry of Health and Population.
Held from January 21 to May 19, 2026, the program provided 17 participants with a practical introduction to health informatics and its role in supporting evidence-based health policymaking. Through interactive sessions, case studies, and practical exercises, participants explored key topics including public health policymaking, policy analysis, health budget planning, electronic health records, health data analytics, artificial intelligence applications, data governance, and digital health strategies.
The graduation ceremony was led by Mohamed Fahmy Menza, Senior Director of the School of Global Affairs and Public Policy Executive Education Programs, and attended by keynote speakers Mohamed Ahmed Akkad, General Manager of the Specialized Medical Councils, and Randa Adel, Takeda Egypt head for commercial and market access, who congratulated the graduates and emphasized the importance of continuous learning and collaboration in supporting the future of healthcare.
The program adopted an applied learning approach through interactive sessions, real-life case studies, and practical exercises, enabling participants to translate knowledge into evidence-informed health policy decisions. It also reflected The American University in Cairo School of Global Affairs and Public Policy Executive Education's vision of strengthening public sector capacity through high-quality executive education.
