Graduation of Class of 2025/2026
Kamal Adham Center for Television and Digital Journalism in the School of Global Affairs and Public Policy at The American University in Cairo hosted its highly anticipated and Annual Awards Dinner in the historic Oriental Hall at AUC Tahrir Square.
The 34th ceremony celebrated the graduation of the class of 2025-2026 master's in television and digital journalism with the students' families, friends and colleagues in attendance. During this annual gathering, the Adham Center typically recognizes key figures in the media industry. This year, the Achievement Award recipient was Samir Omar, head of news channels at United Media Services. The Rising Star Award recipient was news anchor and Adham Center alumnus Kareem Hatem ’13, ’17.
Hussein Amin, professor, director of the Kamal Adham Center for Television and Digital Journalism and the ceremony’s host, delivered opening remarks and introduced the night’s awards. He also highlighted recent achievements made by the center’s different divisions in 2025. AUC counselor Hala El Said delivered welcome remarks addressing the graduating class and the night’s guests of honor. El Said also joined Amin in presenting Samir Omar and Kareem Hatem with their awards, with both honorees delivering thank-you remarks to the attendance as well as words of motivation to the graduating class as they embark on their media careers. Short video clips were prepared by AUCTV and screened to showcase the honorees’ extensive media journeys as well as excerpts from the graduating class capstone projects.
Amin was joined by esteemed members of the Adham Center’s Higher International Advisory Council, Ambassador Ahmed Rachid Khattaby, assistant secretary-general and head of the media and communication sector in the League of Arab States, and Hossam Saleh, chief business officer of United Media Services Group, in presenting the graduating class of 2025-2026 with their certificates and awards.
The night’s master of ceremonies was Salma ElGhetany, executive assistant to director at the Kamal Adham Center. Guests included Rasha Allam, chair of the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication; Shady Shash, head of Extra News channel; Shady Gamal, head of sector AlQahera AlEkhbaria channel; Ahmed Bosaila, lead anchor, AlQahera AlEkhbaria; Adel Saleh, dean of the Faculty of Communication and Mass Media at the British University in Egypt; Suzan ElKilliny, professor of journalism and mass communication and former dean of Emirates College of Technology; Howaida Mostafa, professor of mass communication at Cairo University; Ahmed Youssef, television presenter at Egypt’s Channel One; in addition to faculty members from the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication and the Kamal Adham Center, including Fady Ramzy, Mohamed Hashem, Ahmed Atef and Hagar Adss, among other public figures, media professionals and academics.
