Academics

WELCOME, PROSPECTIVE STUDENTS!

Thank you for your interest in the undergraduate and graduate degree programs at the Middle East Studies Center (MESC) at the American University in Cairo.

Applications to the MESC programs are administered by the AUC's Office of Enrollment, Admissions and Student Service Center and are accepted online only. You will find application deadlines, information and instructions under the ‘Academics’ tab on this website.

We welcome applications from students with a clear interest in Middle East studies. Strong recommendation letters, a compelling statement of purpose and a high level of previous academic achievement are all vital elements of a successful application. The English language is a requirement of all applicants; however, there is no minimum score or minimum GPA. Prior language training in a Middle Eastern language is not a prerequisite, although it is advantageous. All application materials must be submitted by the deadline.

Prospective students should read programs descriptions carefully before submitting their applications. Students should also consult the Prospective Student FAQs for answers to common questions about applying to MESC. Information about university fellowships can be found here

If you are a graduate student, you may want to check the MA thesis requirements.
