About Us

Center for Migration and Refugee Studies (CMRS) Vision

To be an internationally recognized scholarly center for its production and exchange of knowledge on migration and refugee issues. We build on our existing strength as the first and among the few academic institutions in the region of the Middle East and North Africa that offers post-graduate degrees in migration and refugee studies, combined with research, training and outreach activities in the same field.

Center for Migration and Refugee Studies (CMRS) Strategic Goals

• Education: Provide high-quality specialized education in Migration and Refugee Studies and graduate highly competent and knowledgeable professionals in the field of migration and refugee studies.
• Training: Provide training to practitioners in the field as well as to the migrants and refugees.
• Research: Produce and disseminate important research results that contribute to building knowledge on migration and refugee issues, support policy-making, and contribute to the debate on global governance and international cooperation in migration and refugee issues by sharing and discussing the results of its research in international forums.
• Outreach: The outreach goal is linked to the research goal. CMRS’s research findings are shared in international forums. Moreover, organizing forums and debates on global governance and international cooperation raise ideas for further research. CMRS’ outreach component also acts as a platform for linking academics, policymakers, and practitioners, initiating policy dialogue, and providing advice to decision-makers at the national, regional and international levels.
